ICSE-10 will dedicate a special session to aspects of Workforce Development for early-career professionals and students alike.
This session may include a panel discussion where global leaders from science and industry answer questions about their understanding of current and future trends, as well as best practices in processes that create value.

Have Polarizer – Will Travel: The Need for Ellipsometry Expertise in Industry
Andy received a BS in physics from Davidson College in 1995 and a MS and Ph.D. in physics from Brown University in 1997 and 2001 respectively. He started his professional career at Intel as a fab metrologist but later moved on to Novellus Systems (now Lam Research) and Nanometrics (now Onto Innovation). He is currently a Fellow and Vice President of Research and Development in Onto’s Metrology Business Unit. He has made contributions to optical metrology, dielectric material synthesis, plasma processing, and the integration of semiconductor devices. His research interests include picosecond laser acoustics, nanoscale heat flow, optical critical dimension metrology, mid-infrared ellipsometry, and novel ellipsometer configurations. He is a Fellow of the American Vacuum Society.

Michelle Williams-Vaden

Workforce Development for Semiconductor Industry
Michelle Williams is the Executive Director of the SEMI Foundation. Michelle oversees the organization’s strategy, communications, growth, and partnerships with government workforce development investments in the microelectronics industry. Michelle has supported the launch and scaling of major initiatives and secured significant funding for programs that support industry awareness and welcome all people into industry careers. She is an accomplished strategist, writer, and speaker who has presented to national and global audiences on workforce development and organizational culture.
Previous to SEMI, Michelle spent 15 years at the helm of nonprofit organizations dedicated to strengthening communities through creative problem-solving and cross-sector partnerships.
